FAQ'S
This past September, over a 3-Day period, we ran a special Formula One focused auction on eBay. With 1,206 Auctions it was the largest F1 trading card auction to date. We’ve long been fans of the 2020 F1 sets and felt it was the perfect opportunity to showcase them to the broader sports card collecting community, as well as provide longtime F1 fans with some rare and unique cards. Always with an eye for the long run, having every card PSA Graded was a must for this inaugural auction.
F1 is here to stay. We were expecting a few strong hands to come in and dominate the auction. What happened was the exact opposite. With 326 unique auction winners and countless other bidders who did not win an auction, the demand for these F1 cards was more than we (or anyone else we knew) expected. New highs were reached on many cards (Check our Instagram for a few highlights) and at the same time there were so many clear and obvious long term great purchases being made by savvy collectors. A few of the same exact cards sold in the September auction have already been resold by others at much higher prices! (Check our Instagram to see them too!)
We think 2020 Topps F1 Sets will continue their gradual ascent over time. The most amazing thing about the results of the September auction was that it came at a time where nearly every other collectible market was in the midst of their downturns in value. While we do encourage everyone to look out for dangerous signs of sudden & huge jumps in value, even in F1, we generally believe that gradual increases in value of the Limited 2020 Topps F1 cards will occur over time as 3 key factors set in over the years:
1.The continued growth of F1’s popularity in the US, both in the general population and amongst longtime traditional sports card collectors
2.The continued growth of sports cards globally, especially in countries that already consider F1 to be amongst their favorite sports.
3. F1 has long been considered a secondary sport in the US and has been regularly compared to other US motorsports' popularity. We expect this misconception to rapidly fade away.
